and now...for this past weekend! to celebrate our little six-month anni, brian and i decided to go out for thai food. we went to pok pok ny in brooklyn and it was wonderful - we miss thailand A LOT. we talk about it lot, we reminisce about it a lot, we think about the food a lot...you get the point. we had such an amazing adventure in that beautiful country, and pok pok ny was perfect - the food, the drinks, the serveware even! - it was all very authentic and took us back. for a little slice of thailand, i highly recommend it. and the rest of the weekend didn't slow down from there - we took our friends to a great, laid-back distillery in brooklyn, followed by dinner at one of our favorite restaurants in the city, st. anselm. if you're looking for a fun (and free!) activity, the ny distillery is a great one. and we followed this up with brunch on sunday with tina and a friend she had in town at the brooklyn star. i had done a little research before, so when i ordered a kale salad i got a few odd looks (sideeyes, to be honest). but along with my salad i ordered that huge cinnamon bun, served in a cast-iron pan (i have a deep love for cinnamon buns, i will do a lot for them, like eat rabbit food, i.e. kale). i ate the whole thing (brian only got two bites before i put the kibosh on sharing) and it made the salad totally worth it. all the eating and drinking made for a great weekend after a very long week - and i'm looking forward to doing it again in two days!
