on my weekend in pictures.

and now...for this past weekend! to celebrate our little six-month anni, brian and i decided to go out for thai food. we went to pok pok ny in brooklyn and it was wonderful - we miss thailand A LOT. we talk about it  lot, we reminisce about it a lot, we think about the food a lot...you get the point. we had such an amazing adventure in that beautiful country, and pok pok ny was perfect - the food, the drinks, the serveware even! - it was all very authentic and took us back. for a little slice of thailand, i highly recommend it. and the rest of the weekend didn't slow down from there - we took our friends to a great, laid-back distillery in brooklyn, followed by dinner at one of our favorite restaurants in the city, st. anselm. if you're looking for a fun (and free!) activity, the ny distillery is a great one. and we followed this up with brunch on sunday with tina and a friend she had in town at the brooklyn star. i had done a little research before, so when i ordered a kale salad i got a few odd looks (sideeyes, to be honest).  but along with my salad i ordered that huge cinnamon bun, served in a cast-iron pan (i have a deep love for cinnamon buns, i will do a lot for them, like eat rabbit food, i.e. kale). i ate the whole thing (brian only got two bites before i put the kibosh on sharing) and it made the salad totally worth it. all the eating and drinking made for a great weekend after a very long week - and i'm looking forward to doing it again in two days!

  2. Crazy it's already been six months! I bet it feels like it's gone so fast. Thailand sounded amazing, so it's not surprising that you think back on it often!

  3. Pok Pok has been on my list for ages but it always such a pain to get a table. I'm renewing my resolve to get there one of these days!

I am such a menu researcher before going to a new restaurant. I'm glad I'm not the only one and that it worked out for your kale salad + cinnamon bun combo. Sounds like you were the winner in the end!
